Thirty years ago when selling was not as glamorous as today, street foods and flavored ice were sold in the streets in front of houses in our barrio in Mojon, Liliw, Laguna. One of the most popular flavored ices that time was the snowballs. During summer, the residents who wanted to earn a little money for the summer would set up a small table with a small bench that serves as a seat in front of their houses. On the table they place a plastic container with vanilla syrup, an ice wrapped in old white t-shirt which Is crushed into smaller pieces like snowballs and plastic cups.

The kids and teenagers would gather In front of these small tables selling snowballs to talk about their experiences while they were studying in Manila. A snowball Is also the favorite thirst quencher of volleyball and basketball team members after their game. The much older batch of teenagers made it as their venue to plan for their summer vacation while they are in the province.
