Harmful Myths about Starting a Franchises

Many people wish to gain financial independence by starting their own business or franchise, but they find themselves never taking the steps toward success because of various common myths and assumptions they believe will ensure their failure or inability to even get started. Le us debunk a few of these commonly held myths:

Myth One: “Franchises only succeed if they can provide a better quality of product than their competition.” This is absolutely false. Can make a better quality burger or salad than any of the local fast-food chains in your area? Of course you can, and odds are you can do this on a mass scale given the right facilities and trained employees. The success of these other businesses does not depend, therefore, on the quality of their product when many other business can provide something superior without much imagination.

Myth Two: “A Franchise can only be successful if it offers something new.” Name any major franchise that come immediately to mind and odds are the product they offered or the industry they work in had been around for decades prior to their establishment.

Myth Three: “If I want to start a franchise, it can only be in fast food or the customer service industry.” The possibilities are limitless when it comes to starting a franchise. You do not need to sling burgers or dry-clean suits. Opportunities are available in everything from health care, home repair, and financial assistance. You are not limited in any sense by what you wish to invest your time and money.

Myth Four: “Operating a franchise is a complicated process that needs a tremendous amount of knowledge to own and operate.” The reason there are so many franchises is that they are simple to operate and replicate. If you wish for a brand to be present in many different geographical locations, you need to make its operations and labor as simple as possible to ensure the same quality at every location. In short, a franchise in itself is simple to say the least.
