Business Ideas: Tutoring

Although anyone can be a tutor, a college graduate with some tutoring or teaching experience is preferred by parents.  Proficiency in Math, Reading and Science is a definite advantage because these are subjects that most students find challenging.

You can set up a couple of hours in the afternoon every day to step out to tutor.  Aside from the usual Department of Trade and Industry documents and municipal permits, you also have to get a certification from the Department of Education in your area to formally operate.

Current tutor rates are between P 200-500 per hour. Remember that your rate should be proportionate to the financial capability of the families of your target students.

Seek out clients who live near your area to maximize your time.  Another option is to set up a tutorial center in your own home.  Pursuing this gives you a business with a potential for growth because you can accept more students and and hire additional tutors for your center.

Before you take the tutoring plunge, ensure that your center carries up to date information.  Another thing to consider is this would take a certain amount of patience as you will be mostly dealing with children.  Tutoring is not just a profitable venture but a life changing experience as well.
