For over two decades now, Avon Phils., the number one direct selling firm in the country, has been giving Filipino women (and recently, more men) a shot at a better life. Avon has been giving them a means of livelihood either as an added or primary source of income where they can work at their own pace in their chosen time, and where they are their own boss.
Avon have a three-level sales force. On the first level is the franchise manager who number more than a thousand nationwide. Their job is to recruit, train, and motivate the next line, the franchise dealer. There are over 200,000 franchise dealers coming in every month to purchase. Some of these franchise dealers have a network below them called certified beauty consultants (CBCs) who are recruited by the more successful franchise dealers. On last estimate, there are about two million of these CBCs but they are not registered with Avon unlike the franchise managers and dealers.
It used to be that Avon was a company for women. But in the last five years, it has been seeing more men selling. Moreover, Avon are getting more and more men as franchise managers whereas before they used to be on the second line only as franchise dealers.
Avon main product lines are cosmetics, skin care, bath and body, hair care, wellness and fragrances.
HOW TO BECOME AN AVON DEALER OR DIRECT SELLER
To become an Avon dealer, all you have to do is come to Avon office, present proof of residence or any valid identification and attend training and you can walk out of the office with products worth P500 to P1,000 on a 30-day credit. The more successful ones take that for granted but you cannot go to the bank downstairs, attend training for half a day, and then walk out with P1,000 For Avon, it’s all based on trust. You do not have to put a bond. You do not have to be a college graduate. If you’re hardworking and honest enough to pay the products that gave you on credit, over time, your credit line will increase. All they ask from their direct sellers and dealers is for them to be honest and hardworking.
